ABC-K

Biogas technology has been in Kenya since the 1950s with various stakeholders promoting its usage. The most notable pioneer initiative was the GTZ-led production of energy from coffee pulp in the mid fifties. The material requirements, the time it takes to construct a biogas plant (averagely 2 – 4 weeks), and high construction costs (between 120,000 and 900, 000 shillings) discourage potential clients. As a result private entrepreneurs are the majority investors in the sub-sector.
